Law School Among Top 100 According to U.S. News
The DePaul University College of Law has been ranked among the top 100 law schools in the country, for the second consecutive year, and its health law and intellectual property programs are among the best, according to the latest survey of America's professional schools conducted by U.S. News & World Report. Family Law Center Funds 22 Students to do Public Service Work
The Schiller DuCanto and Fleck Family Law Center has funded 22 students to do public service work in family law areas through its new Family Law Fellows Awards Program and Summer Service Awards Program. Fellows and Summer Service Award recipients receive a financial award and the opportunity to hone their legal skills while helping vulnerable clients in need of legal services. Read More
Professor M. Cherif Bassiouni Honored
On Tuesday, May 8, DePaul University College of Law celebrated the illustrious career of Professor M. Cherif Bassiouni during a festive dinner in the Grand Ballroom of the Hotel InterContinental attended by over 400 guests. Her Royal Highness, Princess Rahma bin Al Hassan of Jordan gave the dinner's keynote address on behalf of her father, His Royal Highness Prince El Hassan bin Al Talal, and Mayor Richard M. Daley served as the honorary chair of the event.
Professor Bassiouni is an internationally acclaimed human rights law advocate and president emeritus of the College of Law's International Human Rights Law Institute (IHRLI). He founded IHRLI in 1990 and under his direction, IHRLI has worked in areas throughout the world that have suffered the ravages of conflict, including Iraq, Afghanistan, El Salvador, Guatemala and the former Yugoslavia. While he no longer oversees the daily activities of IHRLI, Professor Bassiouni continues to teach seminars in the College of Law and work on limited projects through IHRLI. An expert on the Middle East, international criminal law and human rights law, Professor Bassiouni has most recently been involved in such projects as helping to restore legal education in war torn Iraq and working to incorporate the rule of law into the new Iraqi legal framework.
New Director of Alumni Relations for the College of Law
We are pleased to announce the most recent member of the DePaul Team, Katie Aune. She has been named to the newly-created position of Director of Law Alumni Relations for the College of Law. Katie will have primary responsibility for developing and implementing law specific alumni relations programming to build connections between law school alumni and DePaul.
Katie comes to us from Reed Smith LLP (formerly Sachnoff & Weaver) and prior to that she was an associate at Mayer Brown Rowe & Maw. She attended the University of Minnesota Law School, and received her undergraduate degree from the University of Iowa. She has been an active volunteer with her law school alumni association since graduation and helped organize her recent law school reunion.

College of Law Celebrates Commencement
College of Law Commencement took place on Sunday, May 20, at the Civic Opera House. The Class of 2007 included 358 JD graduates, two LLM Health Law graduates, one LLM Taxation graduate, two LLM Intellectual Property graduates, two JD/MBA graduates, two JD/MA Legal Technology graduates, 2 JD/MS Computer Science graduates and one JD/MA Public Service Administration graduate. Samuel K. Skinner (JD 1966), former United States Secretary of Transportation, Chief of Staff to the President of the United States, United States Attorney and Business Leader, gave the address to the graduates. Gregory R. Dillon (JD 1948), vice-chairman and director emeritus of Hilton Hotels Corp., was conferred with an honorary degree.
