Curriculum

StudentsJuris Doctor students must complete 86 credit hours to graduate from the College of Law. Full-time students are expected to complete the requirements for the JD degree in three years, part-time students in four years. Courses required for graduation are: Constitutional Process; Contacts; Torts; Civil Procedure; Criminal Law; Property; Legal Analysis, Research and Communication I – III; Legal Profession, an approved professional skills course and an approved writing course (legal drafting course, senior research seminar or independent study course). Typical schedules for the first-year programs are illustrated below.

Upon completion of the first-year, students may transfer between part-time and full-time status. Part-time evening students who transfer to the full-time program will be required to take some required courses in the evening of their second year. Registration for both day and evening elective courses is open to all full-time and part-time students.

Full-Time Day Division

First-year, full-time students take 14 credit hours per semester (the semester in which first-year courses are offered and completed may vary by section).
