Financial Aid
DePaul University and the College of Law make financial aid available in the form of merit scholarships and loans. To insure that your financial aid application is reviewed as soon as possible, you should complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) now. In addition, we encourage you to electronically file the FAFSA by going to its website at www.fafsa.ed.gov.

Alternative Loans
Alternative or Private loans are offered by private lenders to assist with educational and living expenses not covered by other financial aid. It is important that you carefully review your expenses before deciding if you need to borrow.
If you decide to borrow an Alternative loan, you will need to choose a lender and complete their application process. Most lenders allow on-line and/or phone applications. The lender will run a credit check before they agree to grant you a loan. Once the lender has approved your credit, they will contact our office to verify that you're eligible for the loan amount you've requested. You may borrow up to the cost of education (your "Total Estimated Budget") minus all other financial aid you receive.
Most Alternative loan disbursements occur electronically. In some instances, however, a lender may issue a paper check disbursement that must be endorsed by the student. Please confirm the mode of disbursement with your chosen lender to avoid confusion.

Alternative Financing
The DePaul University Payment Plan (DePupp) is a convenient monthly payment plan that allows students and/or parents to pay their annual tuition, room and board expenses in nine monthly installments. Since this is not a loan program, it carries no interest charges and there is no credit requirement. There is an application fee. The Office of Student Accounts also offers a deferred billing program for students who receive tuition reimbursement from their employer. The program is called DePEPER. Students may not participate in this program during terms in which they receive financial aid.
