Educational Opportunities

The Institute strives to meet high academic and professional standards in carrying out its mission to advance and promote human rights throughout the world.

Institute faculty and staff teach courses on international law and human rights law within the core curriculum of the DePaul University College of Law. The Institute also runs an ABA-accredited summer study abroad program each year in Costa Rica on human rights law in the Americas.

The Institute also encourages students to get involved in human rights research and advocacy projects at the Institute as fellows, interns, and volunteers. The Sullivan Fellowship Program is a scholarship program offered each year to five top DePaul law students. The International Fellows Program brings advanced law students to DePaul to conduct graduate and postgraduate research, such as PhD and SJD dissertations, within a rich academic environment.

The Institute's many lectures and events help to facilitate public dialogue on critical human rights topics around the world.
