Screenwriter Zach Helm, a graduate of The Theatre School at DePaul
University, made his directorial debut in November 2007 with the film Mr.
Magorium’s Wonder Emporium. His film Stranger than Fiction, released
in 2006, won the National Board of Review’s Best Original Screenplay
Award in 2006. The film also received a Critics Choice Award best writer
nomination and a Writers Guild of America Award best original screenplay
nomination in 2007. He is the author of the plays Last Chance for a Slow
Dance and Good Canary, the latter of which made its world premiere in
Paris this year. Helm is currently developing a new theater company in Los
Angeles in addition to working on a new play, film and inaugural novel.
