Patentable Subject Matter After the Supreme Court Bilski Opinion

April 14th, 2010
(If the opinion is issued on or before Wednesday April 8)

3:00- 5:00 p.m. CST
DPC 8005
1 E. Jackson Blvd.
Chicago, IL 60604

In Bilski v. Kappos, the U.S. Supreme Court will address limitations on patentable subject matter in the context of a business method invention, analyzing a body of case law in such a way that some say could wrongly call into question the validity of many other patents and types of claims, while others argue it is not restrictive enough. A broad range of members of the patent community will study the decision, seeking to determine its effects on innovation, prosecution, licensing, and litigation. Shortly after the Court issues the opinion, CIPLITŪ and the FCBA will host a panel of experts who filed briefs in the case to discuss the implications of the opinion.

FCBA will seek CLE credit from applicable states for those registrants from within the United States (except OH, PA, IN, SC, & PR).
