John T. Cross is the Grosscurth Professor of Law at the University of Louisville School of Law. Professor Cross received his Juris Doctor magna cum laude from the University of Illinois in 1984, and a Doctor of Laws HC from the University of Turku Faculty of Law in 2005. He joined the Louisville faculty in 1987, after a few years in private practice. In 2004, Professor Cross was named to the Grosscurth Chair, a position concentrating in Intellectual Property Law.
Professor Cross teaches and researches a wide array of subjects in the intellectual property field. In addition, he regularly teaches and researches in various adjectival law subjects, including Conflicts of Law and Civil Procedure. He has authored a number of articles and one book in these fields. He is also a co-author on several other books.
Professor Cross's teaching and research interests often take him abroad. He has been awarded two Fulbright grants, a teaching post in Finland (1995), and a Distinguished Fellowship in Ireland (2000). He is invited on an annual basis to deliver lectures in Finland, and less frequently in other northern European locations.
