ACHLS Scholarship Opportunities
(1.) The Art and Cultural Heritage Legal Society Scholarship will be available to one 1L, 2L, or part-time student (including 3L evening students) at DePaul University College of Law who is working in a legal position within the mission of ACHLS. This means anyone who is working in some capacity within the art or cultural heritage law field over this semester or this summer. Even if you don’t have a job yet, you’re encouraged to apply before securing work this summer in case you do find a job in the field. (2.) There is also a Kaplan scholarship available to a qualified 3L for a bar review prep course. Send a copy of your current resume, a copy of your unofficial transcript, and a statement of 500 words or less of why you need the Kaplan scholarship to: email@example.com. The Richard Linn American Inn of Court Mark T. Banner Scholarship for Law Students
Each year, the Richard Linn American Inn of Court offers the Mark T. Banner Scholarship, a $5,000 award given to a law student from a group historically underrepresented in intellectual property law, and who demonstrates a commitment to the pursuit of a career in intellectual property law.

LGBT Patent Law Scholarship
Jeremy Protas, a DePaul alum, of Marshall, Gerstein & Borun LLP has established a $1000 scholarship for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender law students who want to pursue a career in patent law.
Candidates must be 2L’s for academic year 2009-2010 and be eligible to sit for the patent bar. Applications are due by July 31, 2009.

2008 Jan Jancin Award
Each year the College of Law chooses one student to be nominated for the Jan Jancin Award administered by the American Intellectual Property Law Education Foundation (AIPLEF). A description of the award can be found here.
Students interested in being considered as the law school's nominee for this award must complete the application found here and submit a resume and a one-page essay discussing their personal achievements in the field of IP law. These materials should be submitted to Professor Bressler no later than May 15, 2008. Any questions should be directed to Professor Bressler.
The Allen J. Hoover Memorial Award
The family of Allen J. Hoover and the law firm of Wood Phillips created this $5,000 award in memory of the late Allen J. Hoover.
Eligible students (1) have taken and passed the patent bar exam, (2) be currently enrolled for the Spring 2008 semester, (3) have earned a minimum of 63 credit hours, no more than 6 of which are transfer credits and (4) have filed an application consisting of a resume and proof of having passed the patent bar exam.
The student who has met all of the above requirements and who has the highest GPA including grades for Fall 2007, will be chosen to receive this award.
Announcing the 2007 Donald W. Banner Corporate Intern Scholarship
Two $10,000 scholarships will be awarded to outstanding law students who have completed an internship in a corporate intellectual property law department and intend to pursue a career in intellectual property law.
Application Deadline: Friday, October 12, 2007 (Applications available soon. Check www.ipoef.org for details)
Eligibility Requirements: Applicants must have completed an internship in a corporate intellectual property department and must be enrolled in law school in 2008.
Required Supporting Materials:
- A statement about the corporate internship experience;
- A statement explaining why the applicant intends to pursue a career in the field of IP law;
- A reference from the company with which the student interned; and
- Evidence of academic achievement in law school.
Scholarship recipients will be notified in November and recognized at an award ceremony on January 28, 2008 in Santa Barbara, CA. (Travel and accommodations provided by IPO Education Foundation.)
