Seminars & Conferences

The Center organizes and presents seminars for capital defense lawyers that feature nationally recognized authorities on such topics as trial and mitigation investigation, jury decision-making and selection, lawyer stress in the capital defense arena, and forensic pathology. The Illinois Supreme Court Committee certifies many of the programs for attorneys seeking to become qualified to first-chair an Illinois capital case, and attorneys from across the country attend the programs.

Forensic Seminar

The annual Forensic Seminar brings together respected pathologists and scientists to speak on issues common to defense attorneys, including pathology, DNA evidence, and interviewing difficult clients.

Annual Death Penalty Seminar

CJCC hosts an annual death penalty in fall of each year. This event is eligible for Capital Litigation Trial Bar credit.
