The Health Law Institute responds to contemporary ethical, legal, and moral challenges in health care through systematic, innovative approaches, which influence policy reform. The Institute provides DePaul law students with a rigorous education and places them among the finest law firms, government agencies, hospitals, and health organizations. The Institute's mission is fulfilled through community and business connected programming, pioneering research, engagement around legislative issues, collaboration with national leaders, and active participation in the elimination of social barriers in health care.

DePaul's Health Law Institute was created in 1984 and is the first ABA-accredited program of its kind in the nation. Since its inception, it has been consistently ranked among the nation's top 10 health law programs. Through the health law program, students obtain a substantive education in health care regulation, policy, and ethics through a broad curriculum, externships, clinics, and extracurricular programming. Interested students also can earn a certificate in health law, and, after graduating, they may further specialize by pursuing DePaul's Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Health Law.
