Public Interest Law Initiative (PILI) Fellowship Program
IHRLI is one of 44 PILI-affiliated public interest agencies that host recent law school graduates to work as PILI Fellows during the summer of the bar exam. Through this program, participating Chicago law firms sponsor the participation of their incoming associates. PILI Fellows who work at IHRLI learn valuable research and writing skills within a human rights context.
PILI Fellows generally work five part-time weeks while studying for the bar exam and five full-time weeks after the exam. Most Fellows take a break of two weeks immediately before the exam for undivided study. PILI Fellowships require 300 hours of work.
The Fellowship Program is administered by PILI. PILI Fellowships are arranged through an agreement by the firm, the associate, the agency, and PILI. One of the primary goals of the PILI program is to encourage a life-long commitment to pro bono work.
IHRLI is grateful for the ongoing support of participating Chicago law firms.
