The Annual Interdenominational Jewish Community Event

Established with the 2010 discussion on Matrilineal vs. Patrilinial Descent, the JLJS Annual Interdenominational Jewish Community Event takes a penetrating look at the difficult issues confronting Judaism today. On Tuesday November 15, 2011, following a kosher dinner at the CJE Senior Life/Weinberg Community in Deerfield, Illinois, Professor Roberta Kwall moderated a discussion on "Between Orthodox and Non-Orthodox: Obstacles and Opportunities." Rabbi David Begoun, founding director of the L'Chaim Center, Rabbi Yehoshuah Karsh, founding director of the Sidney and Frances Avner Torah Learning Center of Northbrook, and Rabbi Asher Lopatin, spiritual leader of Anshe Sholom B'nai Israel Congregation answered questions on issues of belief, women's participation in synagogue services and conversion.
