Journal for Social Justice
The Journal for Social Justice is a new publication of the Center for Public Interest Law. It promotes discussion of public policy issues and encourages submissions of interdisciplinary work. The Journal offers legal practitioners, community leaders, academics and students the opportunity to voice their concerns, share their unique experiences, offer radical viewpoints and propose solutions. Journal articles are meant to reflect the experiences of the author. The Journal also explores alternative publication formats and expands content options to broaden access and better engage readers.
Public Interest Law Association
The goal of the Public Interest Law Association (PILA) is to encourage law students to work for a more just society and equitable legal system. PILA provides opportunities and funding for work in public service. PILA coordinates events to educate law students about the needs of the underrepresented and the ways that legal training can be used to affect justice in national and international communities. In addition, PILA sponsors monthly educational panels on public interest law topics such as universal health care, immigration, low-income housing, equal education, judicial appointments, environmental issues, prisoner rights and domestic violence. It also offers receptions and networking opportunities for public-interest law students to meet law professionals in the public and nonprofit sectors. In addition, PILA hosts an annual auction which finances the summer public interest scholarship program.
