Mary Becker

Professor of Law

Prior to joining the DePaul law faculty, Professor Becker was the Arnold I. Shure Professor of Law at the University of Chicago, where she began teaching in 1982. She clerked for the Honorable Abner Mikva, Washington D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals, and the Honorable Lewis F. Powell Jr., United States Supreme Court. As a visiting professor, she has taught at Harvard, Northwestern, Georgetown and Chicago-Kent. Professor Becker has written and lectured extensively on numerous topics, particularly feminist theory, family law, and lesbian and gay issues. She is one of the organizers of the Illinois Clemency Project for Battered Women, a feminist activist, and served as the AALS liaison to the ABA Commission on Women in the Profession.
