Biography Professor Boise joined the DePaul University College of Law faculty in 2009, where he serves as Director of Tax Programs, and Director of the Institute for Offshore Financial Center Studies. Professor Boise's research focuses on U.S. international tax policy, offshore financial centers, and offshore financial intermediation. His articles include, Change, Dependency, and Regime Plasticity in Offshore Financial Intermediation: The Saga of the Netherlands Antilles (with Andrew P. Morriss), TEXAS INTERNATIONAL LAW JOURNAL; Breaking Open Offshore Piggybanks: Deferral and the Utility of Amnesty, in the GEORGE MASON LAW REVIEW; and Playing with Monopoly Money: Phony Profits, Fraud Penalties and Equity, published in the MINNESOTA LAW REVIEW. Among other courses, Professor Boise teaches International Tax, Corporate Tax, International Tax Policy and Federal Income Taxation. Prior to joining the College of Law faculty, Professor Boise was an Assistant Professor and Associate Professor at Case Western Reserve University School of Law. He was a visiting professor at Washington & Lee School of Law in the Fall of 2006, and has presented papers at the law schools at Northwestern University, the University of Utah, and Wake Forest University, among others. Professor Boise also has been a frequent speaker before organizations including the American Bar Association Tax Section and the Association of American Law Schools Tax Section. Prior to beginning his academic career, Professor Boise practiced law for several years at law firms including Cleary Gottlieb and Akin Gump, in New York. Before entering private practice, he clerked for the Honorable Pasco M. Bowman II, of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. Professor Boise earned his LL.M. in Taxation from New York University School of Law and his Juris Doctor from the University of Chicago Law School. He received a Bachelor of Arts in political science, summa cum laude, from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, where he also completed substantial coursework toward a degree in piano performance at the University’s Conservatory of Music. Professor Boise is currently admitted to practice in Ohio and New York. |
