Anne R. Pramaggiore ('89) becomes first woman to lead ComEd

DePaul law alumna Anne R. Pramaggiore ('89) recently was promoted to president and chief operating officer of Commonwealth Edison Co. (ComEd), a unit of Chicago-based Exelon Corp., one of the nation’s largest electric utilities. She is the first female to hold the post in the company’s more than 100-year history.

In this role, Pramaggiore oversees the day-to-day operations of the company and is accountable for overall performance associated with reliability and customer satisfaction. ComEd, which delivers electric service to customers throughout northern Illinois, has 5,900 employees and revenues of approximately $6.1 billion.

Pramaggiore joined ComEd in 1998 to help direct the company’s legal and regulatory efforts. She served as a liaison to the Illinois Commerce Commission and functioned as a key participant in the statewide effort on Illinois electric restructuring. Most recently, as executive vice president for customer operations, regulatory and external affairs, she oversaw distribution and transmission rate making, customer operations, and state affairs and strategy for the utility.

Prior to joining ComEd, Pramaggiore was a partner in the trade regulation practice group of McDermott Will & Emery in Chicago. She previously clerked for the Hon. Charles Kocoras (’69), U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

Pramaggiore served as editor in chief of DePaul Law Review.
