Deborah Pergament has focused her legal career almost exclusively on matters related to families and children. In addition to serving as the clinical instructor of the Special Education Advocacy Clinic, she is the managing attorney of Children's Law Group LLC. She is best known for her work representing children with hearing loss, autism and autism spectrum disorders; adolescents with serious emotional disturbances; and children with genetic syndromes. In addition to her work at Children's Law Group and DePaul, Professor Pergament is involved in several community and professional activities related to the provision of quality services to children with disabilities. These include serving as a board member of Child's Voice School, which is a nonpublic therapeutic school teaching children with hearing loss using spoken language. She also is the president of Camp One in a Hundred, which is a clinically based social pragmatic summer day camp program for children with high functioning autism/Asperger's Syndrome, nonverbal learning disabilities and emotional disturbances.
