PROFESSOR ANTONIO SANCHEZ-BAYON
Prof. Dr. Antonio Sanchez-Bayon has taught at Universidad Pontificia Comillas de Madrid-ICADE (International Law), Universidad Europea de Madrid (Legal History, Jurisprudence and Ethics), Universidad Complutense de Madrid (Canon and Ecclesiastical Law/Law & Religion). He has served as a research fellow and visiting scholar at Harvard, DePaul, and Baylor, as well as at the Inter-American Institute of Human Rights (San Jose, Costa Rica), and Universidad Rafael Landivar (Guatemala). Sanchez-Bayon is co-chair and founder of the Instituto de Analisis Estrategicos y Comunicacion Social de Espana, the Centro Iberoamericano de Estudios Juridicos y Politicos, and the Instituto Metodologico de Derecho Eclesiastico del Estado y Sociologia Juridica. His expertise spans political and legal theory, and comparative law, with a focus on Church-State relations, human rights and democratic culture, and conflict-resolution studies. Sanchez-Bayon is a widely published author of numerous international publications, including ten books.

PROFESSOR CARLOS GIL IGLESIAS Carlos Gil Iglesias is a Partner in the Labour Department at SJ Berwin Madrid.
Carlos obtained a degree in Law from the Universidad Pontificia Comillas (ICADE), Madrid. Before joining SJ Berwin Carlos worked for the prestigious firm Landwell - PWC.
He is a member of the Madrid Bar Association and Member of the Employment and Social Security Department at Pontificia de Comillas University, ICADE, where he is Lecturer of Employment Law. He also lectures on employment law issues in other universities and business schools and he has co-authored several works and legal books, including “Commentaries on Procedural Employment Law” (published October 2000, McGrawHill), “The Judgement in the Employment Law Context” (published September 2001, McGrawHill), “Remuneration and indemnity payments, legal regime, tax impact and contribution to Social Security” (published December 2002, Cinco Días Newspaper), "Post contractual non competition agreements: requirements of legal validity" (Published April 2008 and May 2009 "Employment Lawyers Yearbook 2008 and 2009" Wolters Kluwer / La Ley).
Carlos is recognised as one of the best specialists in Employment Law in Spain by the main legal directories including Chambers, Best Lawyer and Legal 500.
Lecture Topic - Termination of the Employment Relationships: Legal Grounds, Effects, Compromise Agreements and Restrictive Covenants. This lecture will discuss key issues of Employment law and arbitration, including major post-employment legal obligations binding on both employers and employees.
PROFESSOR CRISTINA GORTAZAR ROTAECHE is Professor of International Law, European Law and International Relations at the Universidad Pontificia Comillas de Madrid, and a Lecturer in Asylum and Refugee Law. Since 2000 she is the Spanish National expert in the Odysseus Network (Academic Network for Legal Studies on Immigration and Asylum in Europe), and in 2002 was appointed to a Jean Monnet Chair on European Law. From 2002 to 2007 she served as Vice-Rector for International Relations and Extension Programs at the University, and since 2007 she has been the Director of the University’s Institute for Migrations Studies. She is a noted expert on European Immigration Law, having authored, co-authored, and edited some 25 books, 20 articles, and hundreds of conferences papers.

PROFESSOR JOAQUÍN GONZÁLEZ IBAÑEZ
Joaquín Gonzalez Ibanez is Director of the Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law Institute at the Sergio Arboleda University in Bogota, as well as Associate Professor of International Law at both the Universidad Pontificia Comillas, and the Alfonso X El Sabio University in Madrid. He received a Fulbright-Schuman Award in 2008, and was Research Fellow at the Washington College of Law, American University, where he carried out research on the different post-9/11 visions of international human rights by Europe and the United States. In 2006, he directed the international conference, “Homage to Nelson Mandela: Derechos Humanos, Globalización y Relaciones Internacionales”, held in Madrid.
Prof. Gonzalez Ibanez has served as Dean, Social Studies Faculty, at Universidad Alfonso X El Sabio, Madrid. He holds an LLB and a Doctorate in Law (SJD) from Universidad Complutense, Madrid; a post-graduate Certificate in International Public Law from the International Institute of Law at The Hague; a post-graduate Certificate in Human Rights Protection from the Rene Cassin Institute of Human Rights in Strasbourg; and a Diploma in European Law and International Affairs from the Catholic University of Louvain, Belgium.
He has been a visiting professor in China, Colombia, Italy and the United States, and has published extensively on human right issues, specifically the right to access to education. His latest edited publication, International Protection of Human Rights and Rule of Law, represents a collective work of 38 authors, including Claudio Grossman, Judge Baltasar Garzon, Richard Wilson, Jamin B. Raskin, Emiliano Garcia Coso, and Fabian Salvioli.

PROFESSOR FEDERICO DE MONTALVO JÄÄSKELÁINEN, PhD
Born in Madrid in 1966, Federico de Montalvo Jääskeläinen holds a PhD in Constitutional Law, and is Professor of Constitutional Law and Comparative Constitutional Law at the Comillas Pontifical University of Madrid, where he teaches political organization and institutions of the Constitutional State, as well as human rights, civil liberties, and comparative Constitutional law.
Prof. Montalvo Jääskeläinen is also Professor of Medical Law and Bioethics at the Rey Juan Carlos University of Madrid, and Professor in Master´s Degrees on Medical Law and Bioethics at several other Spanish universities (Castilla-La Mancha, Murcia, Rey Juan Carlos University, and Autonoma). He holds the Santander Chair of Law and Minors, and has been working in the field of minors’ rights since 2000. He is a member of several research groups in Universidad Comillas, doing work on constitutional systems of the member states of the EU, territorial decentralization, legal language, Environmental Law, and Medical and Biomedical Law.
Besides teaching at the Law Faculty, Prof. Montalvo Jääskeläinen has been a lawyer since 1992, specializing in Public Law, Insurance Law, and Medical, Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Law. He serves on different public committees of Medical Law and Bioethics (Regional Ethical Committee of Clinical Trials, and the Bioethical Committee of Doce de Octubre Hospital of Madrid).
He has written numerous books and articles on Constitutional Law, Comparative Constitutional Law, Insurance Law, and Medical and Biomedical Law. He is a member of the Spanish Association of Constitutional Law, the Spanish Association of Medical Risk Management, and the Iberoamerican Association of Medical Law.

ALBERT SÁNCHEZ GRAELLS
Born in Barcelona in 1980, Dr. Sánchez Graells is Lecturer in Commercial Law at the Pontifical University Comillas of Madrid. He earned his European Doctorate (PhD cum laude) from Madrid Autonomous University (2010), after conducting research at the United States Library of Congress, the Copenhagen Business School, and the University of Oxford. He also holds a BA in Law (2002, honors), a BA in Business Management (2003, honors) and an Advanced Legal Studies Diploma (2007, honors), all of them from Spanish universities.
Prior to joining the Universidad Comillas, he worked as an attorney in private practice for a British law firm in Madrid (2003-2004), a Spanish company active in the industrial sector (2004-2005), and a law and economics consultancy (2005-2009). His practice spanned the areas of European Union competition and commercial law.
Dr. Sanchez Graells specializes in EU competition law, with particular focus in the areas of merger control and the relationship with other fields of economic regulation, such as public procurement. His research interests focus on EU and comparative competition law and, more generally, law and economics. His PhD dissertation, published as PUBLIC PROCUREMENT AND THE EU COMPETITION RULES (Oxford: Hart Pub., 2010) has been complemented by articles on the EU competition rules applicable to the insurance sector, the interplay between competition and public procurement law, and the current process of assessment of EU competition rules of a general scope (such as Regulation 1/2003). Lecture Topic - Basics of European Competition Law. This session provides an overview of the main provisions of European Union Competition Law (or Antitrust Law, in US terms), their enforcement by the European Commission, and their interpretation by the European Court of Justice, while pointing out some of the expected future developments in this area.
PROFESSOR SALOMÉ ADROHER BIOSCA
Born in Madrid (Spain) in 1961, married and mother of four children, Doctor Salomé Adroher Biosca is Chair on Private International Law at the Pontificia Comillas University of Madrid.
From 1997 to 2004 she has been director of the University Family Institute; since 2005 to 2007 she has been head of the Department of Private Law at the same university and since 2007 she is vice dean of international and institutional relations of the law Faculty.
Besides teaching at Law faculty and at the masters on migration and familiar counseling mediation of the same university, she is professor on different courses organised by public administrations (Ministries, Autonomous Communities and Town councils), professional colleges, juridical schools, and others.
She has directed different individual and collective research projects, has published more than 40 studies in books and reviews and has presented almost 50 lectures, papers and communications at conferences, and symposiums, particularly in matters related to private international law, migration law and family law.
Lecture Topic - European Union Private international law: Commercial Matters. This lecture will address the latest significant Council regulations affecting commercial matters. Two legal instruments addressing the regulation of jurisdiction of the courts, and the applicable law on enforcement of judgments will be specially analyzed from a practical point of view: Council Regulation (EC) #44/2001 on jurisdiction and the recognition and enforcement of judgments in civil and commercial matters (so-called Brussels I); and Regulation (EC) #593/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 17 June 2008 on the law applicable to contractual obligations (so-called Rome I).
