Auto Update
To protect your computer from malicious software or hacking, make sure the following basic security measures are implemented in your computer: Automatic Security Updates for MS Windows.
- Windows XP Internet Connection Firewall (ICF) is enabled
- Anti-virus program is Up-to-date and Operational
- No Suspicious Software is installed (from Freeware, Shareware) on your laptop
- Assign Passwords to your accounts
- Disable Unnecessary Services
Set the Auto Update feature in MS Windows to automatically detect and download Microsoft's latest security fixes for your operating.



Note:
Step 5 usually for a laptop the middle circle, "Download the updates automatically... ", is selected. This will allow Microsoft Windows to check for updates when your computer is connected to the internet. A bubble will appear at the bottom-right corner of your screen to ask you to install any updates found. Install the updates.
