Disabling Services
You should disable any non-essential services running on your computer. Some of these services are:
Netmeeting Remote..., Remote Desktop Help..., Remote registry, Routing and Remote Access, SSSDP, Telnet, Universal Plug and Play Device Host. These services not only slow down your machine but they may provide backdoors to intruders.
To disable the above services:

When done with Step 6, click "OK"
Repeat the procedure for other services you need to disable.
Note:
Disabling the wrong service may cause problems to you machine. If you are unsure, please check with Ali Belkairous at 312.362.5216 or abelkair@depaul.edu for assistance.
