Computer Purchase Recommendations
DePaul College of Law does not require laptops for classes. However, students are strongly encouraged to have their own laptops. Students with laptops can:
- Use the extensive wireless or wired network throughout the college to connect to the internet.
- They can also, if desired, take some exams on their laptops using Softest, the computer-based exam program. This feature is optional.

Make sure the card is WIFI-compliant, supports 128-bit encryption and uses the 802.11g protocol. If possible, select an 802.11a/g/n combo wireless card. This will allow you to use your laptop almost anywhere there is a wireless network.
- Both Apple computers and 32-bit and 64-bit Windows-based PCs are used at the College of Law. Important. Mac Books must have MS Windows XP with Service Pack 2 (SP2) or Vista installed to use Softest. Apple BootCamp software is used for Windows installation.
