American Civil Liberties Union
The ACLU fosters debates on civil liberties and informs students about related issues.


American Constitution Society
This organization works with the National American Constitution Society for Law and Policy (ACS) to ensure that the fundamental principles of human dignity, individual rights and liberties, genuine equality, and access to justice are in their rightful, central place in American law.


Amnesty International
Amnesty International is an international human rights organization that seeks the immediate and unconditional release of all prisoners of conscience, fair trials for all properly charged with legitimate criminal offenses, and the complete abolition of torture, disappearance, and state-sanctioned killing worldwide. The purpose of the Law student chapter of Amnesty International is to encourage law students to become active in the struggle to maintain and preserve the balance of human rights.


Appellate Team of the Moot Court Society
The DePaul Appellate Moot Court Society is a student-run organization committed to the advancement of oral and written advocacy, the furtherance of practical legal skills, and scholastic excellence. The Appellate Moot Court Society represents DePaul University College of Law in law school moot court competitions nationwide in various areas of the law. The Team will host an Intramural Appellate Competition, which will also serve at as tryouts for the 2007-2008 team, in the Fall of 2007. Students who have completed their first year of law school are invited to participate in the competition.

Art, Technology & Intellectual Property Law
The DePaul Journal of Art, Technology & Intellectual Property Law (JATIP), formerly known as the DePaul Journal of Art & Entertainment Law, is a student-edited national law journal established by the DePaul University College of Law in 1991.

Asian Pacific American Law Students Association
The Asian Pacific American Law Students' Association (APALSA) strives to identify, address and promote awareness of Asian American concerns at the school, city, national and international levels. APALSA establishes scholarships, hosts events and speakers, creates networking opportunities for students and practitioners, serves as a support group for students, acts as a point of contact between students and alumnae/i, and seeks to increase Asian American representation in the legal field and beyond.

The term Asian American includes persons from the Middle East, South Asia, East Asia and the Pacific Islands.



Black Law Students Association
Promotes the goals of African-American law students and provides mentoring and study programs for its members.

Business & Commercial Law Journal
Published quarterly under the direction of a student board of editors. The Journal includes notes and comments on current issues in business and commercial law. The Journal is published in conjuction with the Commercial Law League of American (CLLA). Students who have completed their first year of law school are selected based on a write-on competition.

Business Law Society
The Business Law Society promotes social and academic interaction among DePaul Law students interested in the various aspects of business, corporate and financial law. The BLS sponsors social activities, speakers, and symposia that encourage cultural exchange and academic discussion, and generally provides a forum through which members may pursue their interests in developing a career in business law.


Center for Law & Science
The Center for Law and Science hosts a year-round lecture series featuring renowned speakers on topics such as handwriting analysis and DNA in the courtroom. Bi-yearly symposiums take an in-depth look into the evolving issues of bloodsplatter analysis and ballistics. In addition, the Center is developing the premier database for scientific research in the law.

Evening Law Students Society
Due to the unique experience of the evening law student, the Evening Law Student Society (ELSS) is dedicated to providing specially tailored educational, professional and social opportunities for evening law students. In conjunction with the law school administration, ELSS provides legal writing and exam strategy workshops, mentoring and networking programs, as well as professional and social functions. ELSS acts as a collective voice for evening law students and is devoted to addressing their issues and concerns.

Health Law Journal
A student-run publication, the Journal provides scholarly comment on cases and other developments in the health law field. The College of Law’s Health Law Institute provides faculty oversight. J.D. students who have completed their first year of law school and LL.M. students are eligible.

Hellenic Law Society
Through educational and social events, the Hellenic Law Society promotes Greek culture within the Law School community.


Intellectual Property Law Society
The Intellectual Property Law Society's mission is to put DePaul students in touch with the IP legal community, through mentoring, publishing a legal digest, and hosting practicing IP professionals as speakers. The IP Society also works closely with CIPLIT to offer DePaul students the chance to learn about the evolving and diverse legal landscape of IP, and strives o provide practical opportunities for students within their chosen career field.

International Law Society
The International Law Society is a collection of linke-minded DePaul law students who share the common passion of international relations and international law. The International Law Society hosts a variety of events (guest speakers, student-run forums, question and answer sessions) in furtherance of the interests of its members.


Journal for Social Justice
The Journal for Social Justice will promote discussion of social justice policy issues, encourage submissions of interdisciplinary work, and accept work with a non-conventional presentation. The discussions will involve legal professionals, including community-based leaders, academics and students. Though the journal will use a traditional law review framework, it will also explore alternative types of publication and expand content options to broaden access and better engage readers.

Journal of Sports Law and Contemporary Problems
The problems that affect sports are the same ones that affect people in their everyday lives, form labor agreements to discrimination. This student-produced Journal explores these critical issues with articles written by professionals and students. The Journal also organizes and presents an annual symposium that addresses the most pertinent issues facing sports

Justinian Society of Lawyers
A professional bar association for Italian-American lawyers. Students have the opportunity to network with, and provide support for, Italian-American lawyers and judges throughout Chicago. Room 706 Lewis


Latino Law Student Association
Promotes the goals of Latino law students, and those of the greater Latino community. Advocates awareness through speakers, forums and education. Offers a support network for students, including mentor and study programs and an annual scholarship.

Law Review
The College of Law’s traditional law review publication, published quarterly. Legal scholars, judges and practicing attorneys submit articles that are approved for submission and edited by the student Board of Editors. Members of Law Review also contribute articles that discuss recent cases and developments in the law. Election to the Law Review by other students on the Board of Editors is one of the highest honors a student can achieve in his or her law school career. The Law Review board, comprised of day and evening division students in their final year of law school, represent the most outstanding members of the class. Students are invited to join the Law Review editorial staff after their first year of law school, based on their academic performance (top 10% of the class after two semesters) and a write-on competition.

The DePaul National Moot Court Society is a student-run organization committed to the advancement of oral and written advocacy, the furtherance of practical legal skills, and to scholastic excellence. The purpose of the MLSA is to facilitate international and cohesion among law students of the Islamic faith, both intra and inter-scholastically, and between such law students and the legal community, concomitantly contributing to the College of Law’s diverse student organizations.

Phi Alpha Delta
Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, International is a professional service organization composed of pre-law students, law students, legal educators, attorneys, judges, and government officials. Phi Alpha Delta was founded in 1902 for the purpose of promoting professional competency and achievement within the legal profession. It is also the first law fraternity to admit women. In furtherance of the fraternities mission, the Joseph Story Chapter of Phi Alpha Delta at the Depaul University College of Law facilitates the organization of professional speaker events, social gatherings, student support networks, and various other campus enriching activites.


Public Interest Law Association
PILA seeks to communicate to law students the needs of the underrepresented and the ways legal training can be used to effect justice in our community and the world. PILA provides law students with networking opportunities in the area of public interest law and serves as a conduit for law students to learn about different areas of public interest law. Student Bar Association
DePaul's student government. The SBA sponsors social, service and career programs. The SBA Mentoring Program matches senior law students with new law students to assist them in adjusting to law school life.

The DePaul Rule of Law Journal
The DePaul Rule of Law Journal is a student-run, online publication committed to advancing the rule of law around the world. The journal promotes discussion of rule of law projects and policy issues and encourages submission of interdisciplinary work that identifies and proposes solutions to problems involved in building the rule of law.

The Federalist Society for Law and Public Policy
The Federalist Society is a group of libertarians and conservatives interested in the current state of the legal order. It is founded on the principles that the state exists to preserve freedom, that the separation of governmental powers is central to our Constitution, and that it is emphatically the province and duty of the judiciary to say what the law is, not what it should be.

At DePaul University College of Law, the Federalist Society seeks to open and to balance the debate on legal issues. In addition to inviting speakers to the Law School for lectures and debates, we host a variety of social events throughout the year. Whenever possible, the Society invites speakers on both sides of the issue in order to present a balanced discussion on the topic.


The National Lawyers Guild
The Guild devotes itself to the service of people to the end that human rights shall be regarded as more sacred than property rights.


Trial Team of the Moot Court Society
The Trial Team holds annual try-outs in the late fall. Members practice and travel together to compete at the national level. With an emphasis on courtroom tactics and presentation, a Trial Team experience can be both rewarding and strenuous.


Women's Bar Association of Illinois
The DePaul chapter of the Women’s Bar Association of Illinois works with this Chicago-based organization to ensure the success of women attorneys through business and professional development and to advocate for women's interests.


Women's Law Caucus
The Women's Law Caucus is an organization dedicated to educating the law student body about various legal issues relating to women We host a number of speakers from the community to come to DePaul University College of Law and speak about current topics regarding women and advocate for the women's voice in the legal system by holding numerous school-wide symposiums throughout the year. We also provide a mentorship program to enrich the academic and social lives of our student members through activities such as monthly luncheons and exam preparation. Every year, the DePaul Women's Law Caucus publishes a digest called "The Women's Advocate", which allows students the opportunity to submit and have an article published that is relevant to women's issues in law.
