DePaul Journal for Social Justice
OUR MISSION
We provide practitioners and academics in public interest with a scholarly alternative to traditional law journal publications. Our contributors share the wisdom of their experience without feeling compelled to shed their advocates' role or cite as comprehensively (and sometimes needlessly) as typical law journals. Our contributors take credit for their own ideas. This Journal is an opportunity for public interest advocates to share their aspirations. With the practice of public interest law encumbered by a lack of resources, overlarge caseloads and continuing procedural restrictions, many lawyers devise innovative ways to accomplish their goals and serve the client. We offer those lawyers the pages of our journal to describe their experience in a way that will serve others.
We are also interdisciplinary. While we publish articles that focus on social justice advocacy through the courts, we also take a more holistic view of social problems that require community action or the collaboration various experts. Many practitioners have built an impressive base of experiential knowledge, and we share that knowledge with our readers.
We hope that this Journal will be read regularly by judges, public interest practitioners, law school clinics, and public interest centers throughout the country. We actively solicit your support in building a readership base for this endeavor.
MISSION STATEMENT
The DePaul Journal for Social Justice promotes discussion of policy issues, encourages submissions of interdisciplinary work and expands student opportunities for learning.
