Submissions

General Information

The DePaul Rule of Law Journal invites authors to submit articles that focus on the theory and practice of building the rule of law. The Journal encourages potential writers to consider a variety of approaches to examining this emerging field, ranging from comprehensive definitions to specific case examples. The Journal welcomes interdisciplinary work and is particularly in favor of articles that propose solutions to problems involved in building the rule of law. The Journal promotes dialogue and debate on matters of policy and practice, and welcomes responses to articles previously published in the Journal.

Potential article topics include, but are not limited to, the following:

Case studies of rule of law programs whose objectives were (or are presently being) achieved and the possibility of replicating such programs beyond the places in which they were originally implemented.

Case studies of rule of law programs whose objectives were not (or presently are not being) achieved, and lessons learned from such programs.

The importance of human rights promotion in the context of reforming or rebuilding governmental institutions.

How governments, international organizations, and non-governmental organizations can better coordinate the implementation of rule-of-law programs.

Submissions

The Journal accepts submissions from a wide variety of governmental and non-governmental actors throughout the world who promote the rule of law, including jurists, legal scholars, practitioners and students.

Manuscripts should be submitted in English with text double-spaced and footnotes single-spaced. Footnotes should comply with The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation (17th ed. 2000), and authors should be prepared to provide any cited source upon request. Submissions will be accepted on the understanding that their content has not been published elsewhere.

With their submissions, authors should include an abstract of approximately 250 words and a resume or C.V. These documents should include a direct email address and phone number at which authors can be reached during the entire review process. The Journal prefers that articles be submitted electronically, via e-mail, in Word format.

The Journal greatly appreciates all submissions and attempts to notify authors of acceptance or rejection as soon as possible.
