American Bar Association Scholarships
To encourage racial and ethnic minority students to apply to law school and to provide financial assistance to ensure that these students have the opportunity to attend law school for three years. Eligibility varies depending on the scholarship

Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund
Awarded based on 3 factors: (1) demonstrated involvement in and commitment to serve the Latino community through the legal profession; (2) academic and professional achievement; (3) financial needs.

Nonprofit organization established by the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association. Scholarships are awarded each fall to law students who demonstrate a commitment to serve or contribute to the Asian Pacific American community as future leaders.

Quarles & Brady Prize in Property and Probate Scholarship
Quarles & Brady has long supported the Section of Real Property, Probate and Trust Law with Section officers, Council members, standing committee participants, and committee chairs, and has played a leadership role in many of the key organizations (including ACREL, ACTEC, ACMA, and the American Law Institute) that help to shape the practice.

Cook County Bar Association Barrister’s Ball Essay Contest
Oldest African American Bar Association in America. Awards scholarships to Black Law Students Association (BLSA) members who attend Illinois law schools and are at least in their second year

Roscoe Hogan Environmental Law Essay Contest
Writing competition established in 1970 by prominent environmental lawyer, the late Roscoe B. Hogan of Birmingham, Alabama, and serves to provide law students the opportunity to investigate and offer solutions to the multitude of injustices inflicted on the environment

More than $500,000 each year is available for full-time students, predominantly those legally domiciled in the metropolitan Chicago area, who are identified as having promise for significant contributions in their chosen careers. National Italian American Foundation Scholarships
The NIAF will award scholarships and grants to outstanding students in the summer for use during the following academic year. The awards will be made on the basis of academic merit and divided between two groups of students. (1) Italian American students who demonstrate outstanding potential and high academic achievements. (2) Those students from any ethnic background majoring or minoring in Italian language, Italian studies, Italian American studies or a related field, who demonstrate outstanding potential and high academic achievements

Chicago Bar Foundation Abraham Lincoln Marovitz Scholarship Award
The Marovitz Scholarship is intended to support a needy law student who is deeply committed to public interest work so that upon graduation financial need will not prevent the student from pursuing a public interest legal career. The Marovitz Scholarship will be awarded annually to a student attending one of the seven Chicago area law schools (DePaul, John Marshall, Chicago-Kent, Loyola, Northwestern, University of Chicago, and Northern Illinois University). These funds, payable over a three-year period, will enable an incoming student who intends to pursue a career in public interest law to have a significant portion of his or her tuition and related expenses covered by Scholarship funding. Contingent on the recipient's continued compliance with the terms of the Scholarship, the student will receive $5,000 in the first year of law school, $10,000 in the second year, and $15,000 in the third year

DuPage Association of Women Lawyers Foundation, Judge Helen C. Kinney Scholarship
To honor the memory, vision and leadership of Judge Helen C. Kinney, the DuPage Association of Women Lawyers has established a not-for-profit foundation to award the Judge Helen C. Kinney Scholarship. All second and third-year women law students who are present or past residents of DuPage County and who are enrolled in an accredited law school in Illinois are eligible for this scholarship

Defense Research Institute Law Student Diversity Scholarship
The DRI Law Student Diversity Scholarship is available to minority and female second-year law students. You must demonstrate academic excellence and service to the legal profession, community and cause of diversity to be eligible for this award. Additionally, you must submit an essay of no more than 1,000-words and three letters of recommendation

George V. Powell Diversity Scholarship
The George V. Powell Diversity Scholarship is open to female and minority law students. You must be a second-year student in good standing at an ABA-accredited law school. Candidates in four-year joint degree programs will be considered after their third year. You must demonstrate the desire to work, live and eventually practice law in Seattle, Washington or Portland, Oregon to qualify for this award. Selection is based on leadership abilities, community service, and involvement in community issues

Katten Muchin Rosenman Minority Scholarship
The Katten Muchin Rosenman Minority Scholarship is open to minority law students. You must have completed your first year of law school and have accepted positions at the firm's 2007 Summer Associate Program. Selection is based on several criteria, including superior academic achievement, leadership experience and personal qualities that reflect the potential for outstanding contributions to the firm and the legal profession. Two scholarships will be awarded in the Chicago office and one scholarship in the New York office

American Intellectual Property Law Education Foundation/Sidney B. Williams, Jr. Law Scholarship
Applicants must be currently enrolled in or have been accepted to an ABA accredited law school, US citizens, demonstrated intent to engage in full-time practice of intellectual property law and membership in an underrepresented minority group. Applicant must complete the FAFSA, provide all transcripts, two letters of reference and there will be an interview. Any student who receives the scholarship is required to attend law school, day or evening, on either a full-time or part-time basis and to maintain a GPA of 2.00 or better. Recipients are also required to join and maintain membership in AIPLA. Scholarship is renewable, upon reapplication by student, for up to three academic years (totaling six semesters).

Joseph T. Capelli Memorial Fund Scholarship
Open to qualified persons enrolled in or about to enroll in law school for the purpose of obtaining a legal education who do not have available to them sufficient financial means either in whole or part to provide for the expense incurred in obtaining such an education. The fund is to be awarded to one or more law school students with a preference given to students whose families are residents of Jasper County, MO. Equal Justice Works/Equal Justice Fellowship
Open to third-year law students, recent law graduate or experienced attorney with a demonstrated commitment to public interest law who has the relevant skills and initiative to carry out the goals of the project. Fellowship begins in September 2004. Applicant is evaluated on demonstrated or stated commitment to public interest law; commitment and ability to fulfill the two-year term required and preference will be given to candidates who propose project that serves a community with which they have personal history and identification. Latham & Watkins / Latham Diversity Scholars Program
Applicant must be enrolled in an ABA-accredited law school and intend to practice law in a major city in the United States. You must have successfully completed your first year of a full-time JD program in 2004-05, with an expected graduation date of spring 2007. You may not be a recipient of a similar scholarship award from another law firm. Other factors considered include: ability to contribute to the diversity objectives of global law firms, success in overcoming any obstacles or challenges faced in deciding to choose law as a profession, academic and/or leadership achievements and desire to practice in a global law firm environment

Darleen J. and Robert L. Walker Scholarship Fund
The fund was established to provide financial assistance to students studying law or about to enter law school in Illinois or the areas of Milwaukee, Wisconsin or St. Louis, Missouri. Scholarships are open to all, but preference is given to sons and daughters of Masonic Lodge 1098 in Lombard, Illinois, and to former residents of the Masonic Children's Home in La Grange, Illinois, who come from Masonic families. Relatives of members of other Masonic lodges in Illinois and elsewhere will also receive strong consideration.

The Michigan personal injury lawyers of Buckfire & Buckfire, P.C. are pleased to announce its first annual 2013 Diversity Scholarship for law students. The scholarship has been created as part of Buckfire & Buckfire’s commitment to build on the promise of diversity within the workplace, community and society.
The Diversity Scholarship is $2,000.00 and will be awarded to a student who is currently attending an accredited law school, who is either a member of an ethnic or racial minority or demonstrates commitment to issues of diversity within their academic career.
